This beloved cafe and restaurant is a local treasure, known for its warm atmosphere that feels like a cozy neighborhood gathering place where friendly staff greet you by name and every dish arrives promptly, brimming with flavor.
The menu here is a delicious ode to breakfast brilliance. Standouts include the perfectly poached Eggs Benedict, layered with silky hollandaise sauce that’s house-made and impossible to resist, and the Sunny Scramble—a vibrant medley of eggs paired with their signature homemade salsa that adds a tantalizing kick. For something playful and nostalgic, the Mickey Pancakes—with their chocolate chip eyes—delight both kids and the young at heart alike.
Sunrise Cafe doesn’t stop at breakfast classics. Their savory Polenta Del Sol, enriched with fresh spinach and eggs, delivers a complex, earthy warmth that customers find addictive, as noted by a loyal diner who praised its even better-than-usual rendition under the new ownership. The Chorizo Omelette, crafted with a newly sourced, richly spiced chorizo, bursts with flavor, balancing spice and heartiness perfectly. Meanwhile, the Steak and Eggs offer a succulent, protein-packed start to the day, cooked exactly to order.
The selection of sandwiches is equally impressive, ranging from a robust Philly Cheese Steak with melted cheese to the delicate smoked salmon sandwich that adds a touch of elegance to lunchtime offerings. The Solar Flare sides — including Corralitos sausage and homemade country gravy — provide perfect accompaniments to round out any meal.
What truly sets Sunrise Cafe apart is its soul. Customers repeatedly praise the attentive, caring ownership and staff that make every visit feel personal. One local highlights how the cafe’s updated seating now includes roomy booths and outdoor options, enhancing the casual yet intimate dining experience. Another shares how the team goes the extra mile by delivering takeout directly to their picnic table at the nearby Heart of Soquel plaza—transforming a simple meal into a memorable outing.
While some minor critiques arise—like the toastiness of the orange juice—these only underscore the authenticity and transparency that make this cafe’s fans so loyal. The vibrant, fresh ingredients, homemade sauces, and the evident love put into each dish create a sensory experience that invites you to savor each bite, lingering long after your meal is finished.
Sunrise Cafe isn’t just about food; it’s a place where community is built over plates of fluffy French toast, crispy tater tots, and rich, savory omelets. Whether you’re craving a hearty breakfast to fuel your day or a relaxed spot to enjoy a midday bite, Sunrise Cafe delivers a truly comforting and satisfying dining experience in the heart of Soquel.
Great lil cafe with friendly staff - the food is delish and served right away. Love this place!
New owners, same menu with delicious fresh ingredients. House made salsa and hollandaise was delicious. I went with my normal polenta spinach eggs which was even better than usual. My husband got the chorizo omelette - they have a new chorizo that is absolutely delicious. My son had the mickey pancakes and loved the chocolate chip eyes . Jesus is a very caring and attentive owner and I love being able to eat in the outdoor patio with fresh air. Afterwards we usually take a walk on the beautiful trail over the aquifer (near the elementary school).
Excellent build your own omelet. Excellent service. -1 star for having tiny booths Update: Booths are bigger and there is outdoor seating in the back. Had the steak and eggs and they were excellent. Wife and daughter had the French toast and a bowl of fruit. -1 star for Orange juice tasted like it had been filtered through cardboard.
Had the most amazing breakfast from here the other day. We ordered takeout and they delivered to our picnic table at Heart of Soquel plaza. The food was amazing!
Small place that’s perfectly understated…what more you could you ask for in a breakfast place? Well if you like salsa on your eggs, the scramble with homemade salsa is FIRE! It’s hard to stand out when serving up scrambled eggs and home fries, but I’ll be back for this breakfast.
This is our first time visiting Sunrise Cafe, based on reviews we read online. There is a nice selection of breakfast and lunch options. We were really impressed by the food. The ingredients were fresh and genuine, and the prices were quite affordable. We both ordered breakfast: I had eggs, potatoes, and bacon, while my companion chose French Toast with a side of bacon. Everything was fresh and hot, which means it was freshly made. We plan to keep coming back whenever we visit the Soquel/Aptos/Capitola area.
This old-fashioned diner delivers good food, friendly service, and endless coffee. They have cozy seating, and even a counter with stools. Nothing fancy, but good food, great prices, and no-nonsense prices. The jam is lumpy with chunks of fruit, which you will love! They have had apricot and strawberry every time we've been in. I always order the Greek omelet, but everything looks good. Get there early or expect a wait. Y.U.M.
Amazing little place with genuinely good food and nice staff it’s small but welcoming and hot just the right spot for nostalgia and good vibes.
